Family categories

A category classifies product families: fighter, military transport, helicopter, engine, avionics… Each family belongs to exactly one category. The list is a referential shared by all instances, configurable here without a deployment — for instance to add “Maritime patrol aircraft”.

Code, label, order

  • Code — stable identifier (fighter, helicopter), never translated. It can no longer be changed once the category exists.
  • Label — what the screens show. French is the pivot language; each row’s translation button enters the English label, see Translated referentials.
  • Display order — the rank in drop-down lists. In steps of 10, so that a category can be inserted between two others.

A category that a family belongs to cannot be deleted.

“Carries stores”

The box decides whether the aircraft of the category carry stores: only the applicable configurations whose target belongs to a family of a checked category can declare stores stations and appear in station pointing.

  • Check it for an aircraft that carries loads under its wings or fuselage: fighter, transport, helicopter, maritime patrol, armed drone, armed trainer.
  • Leave it unchecked for an engine, a piece of equipment or an airliner: they have no hardpoint. A part configuration never carries any, whatever the box says.

Unchecking is refused while stations depend on it, in any instance: those stations would lose their reason to exist without anyone deciding so. The message tells how many stations and configurations are involved; remove them first. The same guard applies when a family is moved to an unchecked category.
